We are facing so many unsecertaintites during this time. People are being let go from there jobs, not enough medical supplies, are we going to become infected, is a family member or friend going to become ill. Will we be able to provide food for our families in a month if this contiunes, or perhaps even have a home in a few months if some do not get to return to work. All of these things are human nature to worry about. But we have to remember to humble ourselves during this time. Let go of world wants and focus on what God has provided.
Also, in return for his mercy and compassion let us be compassionate for all others.
Compassion means, "to suffer with".
1 Cor 12:26
St Paul lets us know that Christ does suffer with us. He says, : If one part suffers all of the other parts suffer too."
Lets let our humility and compassion be the face of this virus. Let our faith be spread like this virus.
Coming out on the other side of this time of uncertainty will either bring one of two things.
1) No change at all; or 2) Closer relationship with Christ, our friends and family, strong faith and stronger compassion for community and most importantly a stronger senes of humility.
I challege you to chase authernic humility during this time and during this season of Lent. This has the potential to be the best Lent of our lives. Question is are you going to make it your best?
Jesus says in Matthew 6: 26-34
26- Look at the birdds in the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are they not of more valuse then they? 27-Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature. 28- So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the fields, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29- and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all of his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30- Now if God so clothes the grass in the field, which todayis, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much clothe you, O you of little faith?
31- Therefore do not worry saying, " What shall we eat? or waht shall we drink? or what shall we wear? 32- For all of these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all of these things. 33- But first seek frist the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things shall be added to you. 34- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Prayer:
Dear Lord during this time I pray that you give me the desire to practice authentic humility. Humility is not an option for our relationship with you, it is the very foundation that our relationship stands on. I desire to have a strong compassionate realtionship with you and others in my life and others that I encountor during these times. Lord I allow myself to be open to your mercy and compassion that I might be like you and share it with others. It is in your name that I pray- AMEN
